- Doctors should be in the exam room examining patients. At the same time, the owner/doctor must operate a clinic and a retail optical department. This course teaches the doctors check and balance systems to accomplish all of these tasks. The result will be high morale, maximized control of doctor's business operations, reduced stress and increased net income for doctor.

- This course will allow the optometrist to fully understand the "true" ocular emergencies that present to their office. It will stress the importance of an appropriate history and triage. It will allow the optometrist to come to a proper diagnosis and treatment of these important disease processes.

- Many different types of headache present to the optometric office. It is important for the optometrist to differentiate the primary headache from the more dangerous and life threatening secondary headache. This course will focus on the secondary headaches, their differential diagnosis, treatment and management. It will also stress the importance of taking a proper and extensive history.

- This lecture is designed to educate the optometrist on the many aspects of ocular trauma. It will cover diagnostic testing as well as the most current treatment plans. Investigative skills will be stressed.

Carlo J. Pelino, O.D., F.A.A.O.: The Eye in Systemic Disease – What Every Optometrist Needs to Know COPE 15724-PS


- This course is presented in a grand rounds fashion and highlights the common systemic diseases that present to the optometric office and their correlation to the eye. This course is designed to stress the NEI (National Eye Institute) studies and allow the optometrist to recognize the most up-to-date ocular and systemic research and treatment plans.

The NOA Convention has always been a “family affair” with NOA members, spouses, non-members, educators, optometry students, optical suppliers, children, relatives, and friends. Registration is required if you wish to take part in all scheduled activities. Non-registrants may be able to purchase tickets for individual scheduled events.
